Anthony J. Moreau

Anthony J. Moreau (b.1989) is a self-taught French artist. His work follows in the lineage of European painting from the Belle Époque to modernism marked by the French tradition, in which he blends heritage and a contemporary approach. Drawn to the visual arts from early childhood, he cultivated a sensitivity for observational drawing and narrative drawing before turning to painting from 2024 onward. Moreau develops an intuitive painting that is both objective in its representation of reality and subjective in the creative process. He explores a pictorial language that is inherited and attached to the moment, the unexpected, and organic perception, where strengthening the presence of the subject on the support appears to be a determining axis of research.
